Diplomate National Board Centralized Entrance Test (DNB CET) is conducted two times for the January and July Sessions every year

About DNB CET

DNB CET Examination is conducted for the admission in Post Graduate courses including Direct 6 year’s course in the specialty of various surgeries like Plastic Surgery, Neuro-Surgery and Pediatric Surgery. The DNB CET Qualification holder is Eligible for specialist’s post/faculty in any Hospital and on a teaching post/as a faculty member at training/teaching institution.

DNB qualifications are recognized as high standard specialist qualifications. Read the advantages and disadvantages of doing DNB over MD/MS.

National Board of Examinations (NBE) is in authority organizing and executing all events related to DNB CET including appointment made. DNB CET is conducted for approximately 748 seats in about 30 disciplines of higher studies in medical specialty courses. 

 

Eligibility Criterion

The various mandatory eligibility norms for appearing in DNB CET are specified below:

  • Candidates must have obtained MBBS degree from a university recognized by Medical Council of India.
  • 12 Months rotating internship must be completed before January 31st and before July 31st for January and July sessions respectively.

Examination Pattern of DNB CET

Procedure to Apply

Application procedure tentatively commences in the month of September for the January session and in May for the July session. Application form can be filled only in the online mode. Once the commencement of application procedure has been declared by NBE, candidates can fill the application form online by filling the authentic information as asked in the form, next step is uploading of photograph and signature. For this a candidate must scan the recent photograph copy and signature copy within the allotted size. The examination fee is Rs. 4500(tend to vary) which is to be paid through credit/ debit and net banking by the candidates.

DNB CET Admit Card:

The admit card are generated at the end of the application procedure and are also mailed to the registered mail ID. Admit cards must be carried along to the examination hall for verification and other formalities.

 

DNB CET Result & Counselling

The result for both sessions DNB CET are declared in January and in August for January and July Sessions respectively. 50% marks is the qualifying marks for general category, 40% for SC, ST and OBC category and 45% for candidates with Persons with Disability. Result is declared only for the qualifying students.

The qualifying candidates are then called for the counseling process for the allotment of seats entirely on the merit basis. If a candidate misses the first counseling then he/she will be called upon to participate in further round of DNB CET counseling.
