Exam Pattern of NEET PG

First of all, let us examine the paper pattern of NEET PG:

Total No. of Questions

300 Questions

Maximum Marks

1500 Marks

Negative Marking

No Negative Marking

Although the exam comprises 300 Questions, Maximum Marks are 1500, and there is ‘No Negative Marking’ however, the Marks per question is not 5.

Actually, the Marks per question is not Uniform and Varies from question to question.

 

Details of Normalization Process used by NBE

The Normalization process used is very complicated. And hence, the scores released are till the 4th place of decimal. 

  • Questions which majority of the candidates answer Incorrectly (Wrong) are regarded as ‘Difficult Questions’ by the Prometric Software and Prometric Software assigns ‘Higher Weight Age’ to such questions. Therefore, students who answer such questions correctly are thereby awarded Higher marks.
  • Likewise, Questions which majority of the candidates answer ‘Correctly’ are regarded as ‘Easy Questions’ by the Prometric Software and thereby, Prometric Software assigns ‘Lower Weight Age’ to such questions. Thereby, candidates correctly answering such questions are still awarded Lower marks.
  • Sessions in which the ‘Average Marks’ for all the Test Takers are ‘High’ is regarded as an ‘Easy Session’ by the Prometric Software and thereby, Marks are ‘Reduced Uniformly’ for all the Test takers by the Prometric Software.
  • Likewise, Sessions in which the ‘Average Marks’ for all the Test takers is ‘Low’ is regarded as a ‘Difficult Session’ by the Prometric Software and consequently, Marks are ‘Increased Uniformly’ for all the Test takers by the Prometric Software.
