Hello, please tell us something about yourself.

My name is Emil Prabha Jose, I completed my MBBS from Calicut Medical college, AIIMS rank -18

What do you think is the correct approach to study for AIIMS PG? Only MCQ's or Theory+MCQ's?

I think its better to study theory with MCQ, as number of questions repeating are less. You should have theory back up and general idea about common topics which are asked. It’s not about studying hi-fi things, it’s about knowing common things and your presence of mind during exam.

When should the preparation ideally be started?

I started my preparation only after my house surgency, but I think if you can read little during HS It will be good

Please list the books you studied for each subject.

For most subjects I studied TMCAA (THRISSUR MEDICAL COLLEGE ALUMINI ASSOSIATION) notes only

Biochemistry- Rebecca madams

SPM- Dr Vivek Jain

Pharmacology- Dr Sparsh Gupta

ENT-Dr Shibu George

Have you attempted PGMEE previously? If yes, what did you do different this year that lead to your success?

I attended PGMEE last year and I was disqualified (rank was about 33,000), the thing was that at that time I didn't know what to study. After that I attended TMCAA classes and got a general idea about topics.

Then I did previous years question papers and took PrepLadder mock tests.

How big is the role of practice and revision while preparing for PGMEE and how much time should be dedicated for it?

I think key for a good rank is REVISION and REVISION only. My classes were over by September 1st week and I spent about 2 months for revision.

2 months before exam you should stop studying 'new' things even if u have plenty to complete, or else you won't get time to revise.

Did PrepLadder play a part in your success? If yes, how?

Revision and practice is the key to success in any PG entrance exam.

PrepLadder solves the practice part effectively. I joined PrepLadder test series 2 months before the exam. The questions are good quality and the analysis is the best part.

I used to sort my weak areas using PrepLadder exams and then allot more revision time to them.

Did you use a time table/study plan to keep your preparation on track?

I Studied according to TMCAA classes time table, rather than finishing whole subject I did selective reading

Were you a topper or a mediocre student during MBBS?

I was never among the toppers during graduation.

List the most difficult and easiest subjects for you.

SPM was difficult for me as its a huge topic

One mistake that you believe everyone must avoid while preparing for PGMEE.

Not making notes is the biggest mistake anybody can make.

I’d say that you must start your preparation with revision on your mind.

Always make notes while studying in such a way that you are able to revise in last moment. Again....... Revision is the key

Some last tips for our readers preparing for PGMEE?

From rank 33,000 to rank 18 in a year, I just have one mantra that got me there: Revise, Practice and Re-Revise.
