Hello, this is Dr. Narasimman. I did my MBBS from Madras Medical College, Chennai.

I got Rank 33 in AIIMS

Rank 75 in JIPMER

All India Rank 801 in AIPGMEE

Rank 140 in DNB

Now I am a resident in AIIMS Radiology Institute.

 

What do you think is the correct approach to study for PGMEE? Only MCQ's or Theory+MCQ's?

Theory and MCQ’s is the correct approach. Because if you know theory and your fundamentals are strong, you can solve any number of MCQ’s.

 

When should the preparation ideally be started?

One year of dedicated and consistent preparation is enough.

Preparation can be started after internship.

Have you attempted PGMEE previously? If yes, what did you do different this year that lead to your success

This was my first attempt at PGMEE

 

How big is the role of practice and revision while preparing for PGMEE and how much time should be dedicated for it?

Revision is very important. Ideally last 3 months should be dedicated only to revision.

 

Did PrepLadder play a part in your success? If yes, how?

Yes PrepLadder played an important part. I took all PrepLadder tests.

As these tests were taken by around 15,000 candidates, I used it for competition analysis and assessing my level of preparation.

Did you use a time table/study plan to keep your preparation on track?

Yes. Having a time table is very important, it helps in keeping preparation on track and leads to streamlined way of preparation.

 

Were you a topper or a mediocre student during MBBS?

I was an Average student during MBBS.

 

List the most difficult and easiest subjects for you.

Difficult for me were Anatomy and SPM.

All others I found easy

 

One mistake that you believe everyone must avoid while preparing for PGMEE.

Don't jump into the answer while answering MCQ’s.

Try to rule out incorrect options before choosing an answer.


Some last tips for our readers preparing for PGMEE?

While preparing don’t cut yourself out. Be active online.

Have regular look on various forums and online discussions.

Revise multiple times, correlate various subjects, discuss with your colleagues.

Take any help that’s available.
