Dr. Subash, who in his own words was an average student, all through his days at college has achieved the distinction of scoring All India Rank 4 in NEET MDS and All India Rank 10 in AIIMS MDS. To find out how he achieved this incredible feat, we spoke to the man himself and tried to understand what it takes to attain such a rank.
Having done his graduation from RVS DCH, Dr. Subash did his junior residentship from AIIMS, New Delhi. This young doctor who strongly believes in staying positive and avoiding negative thoughts advises other students to avoid overconfidence and focus on revision.
Dr. Subash attempted 238 questions scoring a whooper 682 marks, which is commendable. We would like to share excerpts from his interview so that you can all learn from his experience and use it to score your mark.
When asked what’s the correct approach to study for NEET MDS, he suggests dividing time between both MCQs and theory. However, he also recommends giving a little more importance to the MCQs. He also insisted on starting the preparations atleast 6 months before the exams.
He shared that the book, Dental Pulse and Across helped him a lot with his preparations. Dr. Subash also mentioned that he has previously attempted AIPGDEE but he didn’t score well. But he was not dismayed. Rather he continued working hard, made some extra efforts and did exceptionally well in NEET & AIIMS MDS this year.
Like every other student, he too found some subjects easy and others hard. He said that he felt Pharmacology was difficult and Orthodontics and Pedodontics were quite easy.
He also feels that enrolling for the MDS Marathon pack from PrepLadder was the right decision. He said it helped him a lot during final revision. It helped him cover all the subjects in a time efficient manner.
Instead of preparing year long time tables and not sticking to them, Dr. Subash feels it’s better to keep weekly targets and timetables that you can stick to.
When asked how big a role practice and revision played in his success, he gave them full credit, saying that revision is essential for preparation. It is through revision only that one enhances their confidence.
He is of the opinion that the future NEET takers shouldn’t be over confident and take revisions seriously.
We thank Dr. Subash for sharing his success story and congratulate him for achieving such great results.
