Hello. I am Dr. Tanya Gupta. I did my graduation from GDC Amritsar.

What according to you is the correct approach to prepare for PGI exam – Only MCQs or a combination of Theory & MCQs?

Not only for PGI... It's for all exams.

A combination of Theory and MCQs with selective topics is the correct approach.

At what time according to you should the preparation ideally commence?

I started my preparation very firstly from my Internship.

Dr. Tanya, kindly list the Books you followed for your preparation?

Here is the list of books which I adhered to for a strong exam-oriented preparation.

  • Amit Ashish
  • Mudit Khanna
  • Dental Pulse
  • AIIMS Ten year papers
  • AIPGDEE 10 years with explanation
  • Jitendra Sharan
  • Ritu Duggal
  • Standard Text books for Image based questions

Dr. Tanya, which subjects did you focus on?

All subjects are important. There is no such thing that a specific is important since competition is getting tougher day by day.

Therefore, no subject should be left untouched or escaped particularly Dental subjects with strong concepts.

Have you attempted PGI Exam previously? If yes, what did you do different this year that led to your success?

Yes, I had attempted PGI last time and that time I got 170th rank.

However, this time I appeared with more and more revision.

Dr. Tanya, kindly highlight the role of practice and revision while preparing for PGI and how much time should be dedicated for it?

Practice, Revision and Focus are highly vital.

Of course, I used to dedicate 10-12 hours regularly to preparation.

Did you follow a time table/study schedule to keep your preparation on track?

Yes, I was among the toppers in my college.

I stood First in my BDS First year, Third in Second year and Fourth in Final year.

One mistake that you believe everyone must avoid while preparing for PGI?

Don’t attempt more than 90 questions. Doing so will lower your rank.

A piece of advice for future MDS Aspirants?

Study hard and hard, Dentistry is growing tougher and tougher.

Seats are limited and aspirants are increasing day by day.

Therefore, Stay Focused and Study Hard. Believe in God and yourself.
