Hello, please tell us something about yourself.

Hello, I am Zahid Nazir, an alumni of Govt Dental college Srinagar j&k. I have secured All india Rank 8 in the recently held NEET MDS Exam. I thanks Almighty Allah for Blessing me with this feat.

What do you think is the correct approach to study for NEET MDS? Only MCQ's or Theory+MCQ's?

My first advice to all MDS aspirants is, come out of that anxious aura inside you that I have to face a cut throat competition and whether I would find a place in the final selection list, this is not going to help you. Work hard and shun all those worries. Both theory as well MCQ's fall on same continuum side by side but strategically you have to first clear your basics by studying theory and then jump on to solving MCQ's.

When should the preparation ideally be started?

Just after the Euphoria of passing the BDS final exam is over i.e just at the starting of your internship. Though internship seems to be quite hectic but still you can manage 4-6 hrs on daily basis but consistency is must.

Please list the books you studied for each subject.

I soley focused on individual text books for every subject up to my graduation level. I studied from the following books-

  • General anatomy from BD churasia
  • Physiology from Arvind arora
  • Biochemistry from satyanaryan
  • Dental materials from Manappallil
  • Dental histology from Orbans
  • Dental anatomy from balajhi
  • Pharmacology from tripathi
  • Micro and pathology from Arora publications
  • Oral pathology Neville and some topics from Shafer's
  • Rest subjects I studied from our UG texts mainly clinical subjects

For MCQ's I followed these books-

  • Dental pulse
  • Dentist by Gowri Shankar
  • Neeraj wadhwaan papers
  • AIIMS previous year papers

Have you attempted AIPGDEE previously? If yes, what did you do different this year that lead to your success.

No, this was my first attempt in NEET.

How big is the role of practice and revision while preparing for NEET MDS and how much time should be dedicated for it?

Unless and until you don't revise what you have studied, your preparation is futile. Try making notes of some important topics. As far as practice is concerned try to solve previous years papers that assesses your real worth and also gives you a glimpse of your preparation standards

Did PrepLadder play a part in your success? If yes, how?

Yeah obviously PrepLadder proved to be very handy at the last moment as I appeared in various mock test series on prepladder that gave me an idea of NEET exam pattern.

Did you use a time table/study plan to keep your preparation on track?

Yes, sticking to your time table is the primary requisite for cracking any prestigious exam. If you go haphazardly it may prove disastrous at the end. You need to plan things well in advance.

Were you a topper or a mediocre student during graduation?

Yes, I was the Topper of my Batch

List the most difficult and easiest subjects for you.

I didn't find any subject difficult in the whole journey but I tried to study clinical subjects thoroughly and religiously. Anatomy and Oral pathology are my all time favorite subjects.

One mistake that you believe everyone must avoid while preparing for NEET MDS.

Proper time management and consistency are the cornerstones of your preparation. If you are lagging in them then success will seldom come to you.
