Hello, please tell us something about yourself.

My name is HETAL AMIPARA. I completed my graduation form govt Dental college, Ahemdabad and I got 4 th rank in AIIMS June 2017 session.

 

What do you think is the correct approach to study for AIIMS MDS? Only MCQ's or Theory+MCQ's?

According to me the correct approach which is needed to study for AIIMS includes studying Theory and mcq's both.

 

When should the preparation ideally be started?

The preparation must be started atleast before 6 months before the exam.

 

Please list the books you studied for each subject.

I referred following books during my preparation:

  • Carranza for periodontics
  • Karjodkar for oral radiology
  • Shafers for oral pathology
  • Rangarajan for prosthodontics
  • Bhalaji for orthodontics
  • Grossman and sturdevant for endodontics and conservative dentistry
  • Neelima Malik for oral surgery

 

Which subjects did you focus on?

I focused more on clinical subjects.

 

Have you attempted AIIMS or NEET previously? If yes, what did you do different this year that lead to your success.

Yes, i did attempt NEET earlier.

 

How big is the role of practice and revision while preparing for AIIMS MDS and how much time should be dedicated for it?

Revision plays a major role in your preparation, last one month must be given to revision.

Did you use a time table/study plan to keep your preparation on track?

Yes, following a study plan is very essential.

Most difficult subjects for me were CPD and pharmacology.

You focus on Theroy and MCQ's both. This will prove much more beneficial rather than doing mcq only.
